I use simple hand painted decoration and anonymous tokens of domestic life to explore the territory between comfort and smothering repetition. I am fascinated by how much of the grotesque goes into building a warm and inviting environment. Rather than covering up these messy by-products or sweeping them away, I create a situation where they thrive alongside their more desirable counterpart.
